The site will be incorporated in all the objectives discussed herein. A new extension website will be developed that specifically focuses on turfgrass management. An additional workshop will be developed for individuals seeking employment in the turfgrass management industry. Different workshops will be conducted for those managing turfgrass on golf courses and athletic fields. Workshops will provide attendees with the most up-to-date turfgrass information about managing turfgrass in Hawaii, as well as opportunities to receive certification credits required by various professional organizations. Best management practices identified from this research will be used to create a series of extension workshops for local turfgrass managers. Lecture presentations summarizing results will be made at meetings of local turfgrass managers, as well as at national and international scientific meetings. Summaries will also be placed in newsletters distributed by local stakeholder groups. Results of selected studies will be submitted for publication in both peer-reviewed journals and industry trade publications with high circulation rates. This series will be available on the new turfgrass extension website. All materials will be compiled together to generate a series of bulletins describing the best management practices for turfgrass areas in Hawaii. Findings will be used to update the current library of turfgrass extension bulletins distributed by UH, as well as to generate new bulletins. Research findings will be used to develop a set of best management practices for turfgrass areas in Hawaii. This may include trials evaluating the efficacy of salt applications as an alternative to herbicide on seashore paspalum turfgrass. Research trials are also likely to focus on new strategies to control the pests affecting turfgrass in the state. ![]() It is likely that this research will include evaluations ofÄifferent turfgrass cultivars subjected to abiotic and biotic stresses (salt, shade, drought, traffic) commonly found in Hawaii. Research trials will be initiated attempting to find solutions to those problems industry stakeholders identify as important in the survey. Results will also be presented at meetings of traditional stakeholder groups and published in newsletters distributed by these organizations. A final report will be made available on a new extension website specifically focusing on turfgrass management. Survey questions will also solicit information about the types of turfgrass managed at each facility, and the problems affecting it. Individuals will be asked to answer a series of questions about the revenue their facilities spend on turfgrass maintenance.
